The #MYGRANDTURK YouTube Video Challenge Awards $1000 To Their Winner At The Sandbar
The "Likes" have spoken!
The first ever winner of the #MyGrandTurk video challenge was announced at a celebration hosted by the Sandbar on Grand Turk on Saturday night.
The video challenge was initiated by three friends, Tonya Viera, Stacey Schneider, and Lacey Armstrong, as a means to promote Grand Turk and all it has to offer. The video challenge was open to all Turks & Caicos residents, and the challenge generated some great content to showcase the island.
Lacey Armstrong said, “This was a great opportunity to promote local businesses and the natural beauty that attracts tourists to our shores. We are so grateful to everyone that participated and we hope that we can keep the momentum going.”
The video challenge was judged by the most likes on YouTube, as a means to keep it fair. Tonya Viera added: “I’m proud of Grand Turk and our goal with this competition was to show off Grand Turk from the perspective of people who live in the TCI, the beauty of our people, and the uniqueness of our phenomenal community. We wanted to show something beyond the brochures and somehow get our genuine vibe across. Sandbar decided to award the prize to the video with the most likes. We thought it would be better if we took the judging out of our own hands. I’ve learned a lot. I’m really looking forward to trying again next year.”
Congratulations to Alex Ebanks, winner of the challenge, and thank you to Sandbar who sponsored the competition and to all those who submitted videos to the challenge! You can view the winning video and all the other great submissions on the #MyGrandTurk YouTube page.
