Grace Bay Resorts Promotes Johnna Messam To Director Of Grace Bay Resorts Foundation
Messam drives the foundation into a new chapter with updated programming and events
Grace Bay Resorts is pleased to announce that Johnna Messam has been promoted to Director of Grace Bay Resorts Foundation. Messam has been with the brand for nearly two years, working closely with the CEO of Grace Bay Resorts and in Marketing. In her new role, she plans to revamp the foundation to suit the changing needs of Turks and Caicos residents in this growing nation.
The Grace Bay Resorts Foundation was established in 2009 with the mission of creating and supporting programs, projects, and initiatives that directly improve the education and general well-being of the Turks and Caicos community. Since its inception, The Grace Bay Resorts Foundation has deployed over half of a million dollars through its various initiatives. More recently, emergency efforts to assist its employees post Hurricanes Irma and Maria, saw the additional expenditure of $600,000. This included island-wide clean-up, construction of temporary staff housing and rebuilding of staff homes.
The foundation’s primary goal is to foster young talent to become the future leaders in Turks and Caicos tourism. The foundation places a strong focus on assisting government schools and students by nurturing personal growth and responsibility in the next generation. Previous initiatives have included providing college scholarships, the donation of school supplies, text books and library programs for local primary schools, and the redevelopment of multiple parks and public areas in Providenciales. Grace Bay Resorts Founder and CEO Mark Durliat stated:
Our goal is to demonstrate the importance of Tourism and its ability to help others, especially those in the community who are not directly involved in Tourism. Many companies and individuals on these Islands contribute huge efforts to this community. We wish to be known as one of these companies and to encourage others to join us in this effort. By combining our collective resources, we can have an enormous impact on the community as a whole.
Messam’s in-depth knowledge of the local community and of Grace Bay Resorts makes her a key asset to revitalize the foundation. Grace Bay Resorts believes that the appointment of Messam will allow the foundation to improve upon its legacy by serving the community with a fresh perspective.
