There’s something innately satisfying about getting through the week of three meals of the day in the TCI without spending the price of a small Grand Turk-reared donkey. Here, with import charges raining down on supermarkets and restaurant cuisine geared towards visitors, it can get tight on the purse strings if you’re not savvy on what to eat, when and where. So in the name of all foodies here’s a roundup of some cheap eats in the TCI should you find yourself down and out and yearning for some local chow…

1. HOT BREAKFASTS FROM $3 AT IGA GOURMET

Choose from a stellar selection of grits, eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast steamed salt fish and tuna. IGA Graceway serves $1 cups of coffee in the morning too…

2. FRIED CHICKEN & FRIES, SWEET T’S

Fried chicken wings and fries by the dollar. What’s not to love? Usually open from morning to 10pm, daily. An order of $3 chicken and $2 fries can set you up for the night.

3. JERK CHICKEN, CHINSON’S GRILL SHACK

From their classic pork sandwich to cheeseburgers and tacos, Pork Shack occupies locations in Grace Bay and downtown and is good call for quick bites at low cost, with sit-down tables. The cheapest option is $3 fries and/or chicken or beef tacos at $2 each.

6. THE PULLED PORK DIRTY FRIES, SOMEWHERE CAFÉ & LOUNGE

If you’ve haven’t been acquainted with the sight of the pile-high cheesy fries with pulled pork and jalapenos here, not only have you not lived but you’ll discover that the $11 even if a few extra few bucks than other options, is totally worth it.
