What is Picnic en Blanc?
It's a fun twist on the usual picnic concept. Picnic en Blanc is an elegant fundraising event under the stars, to be held at Long Bay High School next Saturday 27 October at 7 p.m. Guests will enjoy a unique evening gathered together along picnic tables full of fabulous food and drink under the moonlight, and a few fairy lights!
What's a hamper, and what's inside it?
A hamper is a basket that will be filled with a delicious picnic platter for two (prepared by French favourite Le Bouchon du Village) and a bottle of bubbles. Standard, premium or corporate options are available. There are limited numbers available so guests must purchase their hampers in advance. Hampers are to be collected on arrival at the venue.
Do I need to buy a hamper to attend?
Yes, guests must buy their hampers in advance in order to attend. Check poster for pricing options. However, single tickets are available as add-ons to a hamper purchase. A single ticket is $100 and includes a mini bottle of Möet, canapes, and dessert. Single tickets also need to be purchased in advance.
Why Long Bay High School?
Food for Thought chose to hold their first evening event at the government school which participates in one of the charity's breakfast programmes in order to highlight the reason for the fundraiser. Proceeds from the event will go towards the continued running of these programmes.
The Picnic is inspired by the world wide phenomenon Diner en Blanc, which holds pop up events in outdoor public spaces. Although set up expenses are greater, Food for Thought looks forward to offering their attendees a different experience.
Is there a dress code?
As with the Diner en Blanc, Picnic en Blanc attendees are asked to dress in white, from head to toe.* The event area is outdoor but paved, accommodating those who wish to wear high heels!
What do guests need to bring?
Guests just need to bring are themselves, their tickets, and lots of cash for the bar, silent auction and raffle! (It's for an important cause!) All the set up is being taken care of by Food for Thought and a rather large team of volunteers.
