When people think of Turks and Caicos, they think of clear blue waters, sandy beaches and that authentic Caribbean culture.

Unfortunately, it is a very different scene that we're being greeted with this morning as the true scale of Hurricane Irma's destruction becomes clear.

With power now available in some areas, people have been sharing images of their local areas... and it's not a pretty sight.

Several islands are badly flooded, while others have fallen victim to structural damage caused by Irma's high winds.
