Evacuation Notices In Salt Cay & Middle Caicos Have Officially Been Lifted

"We are on the road to rebuild this nation, better and stronger."

Middle Caicos

Residents are now free to return to Salt Cay and Middle Caicos, after an evacuation order was lifted yesterday.

Governor Freeman confirmed the news but warned that while electricity has been restored on Middle Caicos, Salt Cay is still without water or power.

"The Government is in constant communication with Fortis and Public Works Department to resolve these matters in the shortest time possible. However, in the meantime, residents returning to Salt Cay are advised that these services are not available at this time."

A comprehensive update on aid across the TCI has also been released, with confirmation that a further 56 people arrived on the islands yesterday to assist with recovery and aid.

"We have survived Hurricane Irma and we are on the road to rebuild this nation, better and stronger," was the message from the Premier Sharlene Cartwright-Robinson.
