8 Foodie Favourites Nobody Does Better Than The French
You Just Can't Beat Le Bouchon
Every country has their "thing" that they seem to do best. The Italians have their cars, the Germans have their banks, the Turks & Caicos have their beaches and the French, well they have got their food.
The French not only invented the Michelin star but have been at the cutting edge of culinary creation since the age of enlightenment. Thankfully for us, we can enjoy some of these favourite right here in Provo without having to venture over seas.
While some might well argue otherwise, this is our definitive list of all things food, that the French do best.
Smothered in garlic, fresh crusty bread to mop up all the sauce and plenty of butter. Yum!
2. Fois Gras
We'll keep morality out of this one, if it's not for you then fair enough, but you don't know what you're missing.
3. Steak au Poivre
A well aged tenderloin with a peppered crust and a touch of sauce, throw in a side of frites and you've got something special.
With some of the oldest vineyards in the world, it's tough to beat Châteauneuf-du-Pape for a good glass of red.
5. Duck Confit
Rich, juicy and tender. If you've only had crispy duck pancakes before, give this one a go and you wont be disappointed.
Also known as Moules Marinières, this tasty mollusk is best enjoyed with your hands, so dig in and don't be shy.
No, these are not your average pancake. Best stick to fruit, Nutella or just plain sugar and lemon. Keep your syrup for American short stacks.
If it's not from Champagne, it's just sparkling wine. Fact!
The French also seem to have mastered the art of affection, understand the real meaning of work/life balance, and pretty much run world of fashion. But we're most interested in those delicious macaroons. Viva La France!
