There's A New Petition For Beach Access In The Turks & Caicos
Following the recent incident on Taylor Bay regarding access to public beaches there has been much discussion around the legality of many beach paths which have in recent years been blocked by private developments, mainly on Provo.
Despite the poor weather, there was a good turnout of people in support of the public access dispute on Taylor Bay Beach yesterday (January 6th) and as a result around 300 signatures were collected in response to the current issue.
Now, an online petition has been set up which will hopefully make it easier to garner support both locally and abroad from those opposed to access points being blocked to the general public of our world famous beaches.
Their goal is to reach 10,000 signatures and are asking for the following:
THAT many public beaches do not have addequate and obvious access or right of way;
THAT many public beaches lack signage and appropriate information for the public benefit;
THAT many public beaches lack trash disposal bins;
THEREFORE, your petitioners call upon Turks and Caicos Government to take the following actions:
1. To immediately priovide additional access to public beaches;
2. To immediately errect signs at public beach accesses to inform the public of the name and cautions of the public park;
3. To immediately provide bins and regular waste disposal services.
