As we deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, one eye has very firmly remained on the progression of Hurricane José.

It was predicted earlier this week that José could collide with the TCI after doing a loop in the Atlantic.

And while we're not out of the woods just yet, the latest update from the US Hurricane Centre is a step in the right direction.

José is currently 450 miles off Grand Turk and it is predicted that it is moving towards the east, with a turn to the south to southeast expected over the coming days.

"On the forecast track, the centre of José will remain well to the east-northeast of the Bahamas through Wednesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 75mph with higher gusts. Some slight weakening is forecast, and José could become a tropical storm by tonight."
