Another Sloop Has Been Intercepted in The Turks & Caicos Islands
This time off Grand Turk
After reports emerged early yesterday morning (Saturday 12th May) that an illegal sloop was spotted it was confirmed later in the day that indeed a boat holding 38 Haitian nationals was intercepted around 10am.
The boat which had 29 men and 9 women aboard, was captured and later destroyed by the U.S. Coastguard.
Once the passengers were safely detained the sloop was destroyed and left to sink which is common practice when apprehending illegal vessels
The detainees were then promptly flown over to Provo where they were processed by Immigration and arrangements made for their repatriation back to Haiti.
