The Islander's utility belt
5 items that will make you handle the heat like a boss
Whether you’re a born and bred islander, an expat or a visitor, there’s a certain collection of things that if you whip out at the beach is the difference between sweating like an over-aged mule and riding out the heat like a boss... So in light of making the discerning islander’s life easier, and by easier I mean more equipped with alcoholically refreshing vessels, bass-enabling speakers and generally being less sweaty, here’s a list of our objects of desire to not only keep you cool, but keep you comfortable when it’s time to beach it…
- A COOLER OR FLASK. A BEER COSY AT THE VERY LEAST
- BLANKET/TOWEL: AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET TO THE SIZE OF THE CARIBBEAN HOUSE EVOLUTION DANCEFLOOR.
- PORTABLE SPEAKERS
- PORTABLE BBQ
- GOOD FRIENDS
Alternative: An iced beverage from the nearest bar
Alternative: beach chair
Alternative: There is no alternative. Get crunk.
Alternative: Chinson’s takeout. Of course.*
Alternative: Your current piece of arm candy. And/or a dog.
Apart from the obvious parasol, sun cream and water combo your parents engrain into you growing up, you can be sure if you add the above to your beach agenda, anything is possible…2pm at 25 degree heat with 70% humidity? No sweat.
*Not if it’s a Sunday. Obvs.
